MAINSTREAM TECHNOLOGIES COMPLETES SAS 70 AUDIT

Validation of Controls over IT Assets and Processes an Important Milestone

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK, AR (September 7, 2011) - Mainstream Technologies, a Little Rock-based software solutions and IT service provider, today announced that it has successfully completed its first SAS 70 audit, verifying that the company has established and is executing all necessary controls to ensure the safety and security of its IT assets, including customers' data.

Statement on Auditing Standards (SAS) No. 70 is a widely recognized auditing standard developed by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. SAS 70 is an in-depth audit of a IT service provider's control objectives and control activities, which often include controls over information technology and related processes.

In today's global economy, service organizations or service providers must demonstrate that they have adequate controls and safeguards when they host or process data belonging to their customers. In addition, the requirements of Section 404 of the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 make SAS 70 audit reports even more important to the process of reporting on the effectiveness of internal control over financial reporting.

Mainstream Technologies went through a SAS 70 Type II audit, which verifies compliance with all IT systems' controls over a defined period of time. Completed by Frost, PLLC, the audit covered all IT and other security controls executed from October 1, 2010 through March 31, 2011.

"Successfully completing our first SAS 70 audit is a major milestone for Mainstream Technologies," said John Burgess, company president and co-founder. "As we grow as a full-service information services company, it is important to put ourselves to the kind of test this comprehensive audit represents. Our successful completion of the process should give our clients another vote of confidence that Mainstream provides a secure environment for their important data assets."

Looking to the Future

Just 15 to 20 years ago technology was considered to be a "nice to have" tool for business. Thermal fax machines were novel and utilized by large businesses only. Computers required considerable office space and environmentals. Intercoms were the most common means of interoffice communication. As technology became more pervasive and therefore less expensive, businesses invested in technology much like inventory or office furniture.

Fast-forward to today's business world and you'll find that technology sits at the center of most every business. Some continue to consider it optional tools, but the reality is that technology now drives all business processes. Technology enables efficiencies that reduce labor; it creates standard processes that eliminates waste and errors; it even bridges the gap between multiple disparate technology systems.

"So what?" you ask. Maintaining your IT investment is far more critical today than ever. System failure, data loss, outdated technology and misconfigured technology can cost your business dearly, not to mention the mental stress. Does your business have the appropriate expertise assuring business continuity, efficiency and process management? Are you depending on your desktop support personnel to provide decision points for your overall IT infrastructure? Does your existing IT staff have the time to deliver new technology projects timely and effectively? Are there better ways of taking your existing technology investments and provisioning them for future needs?

Technology has become the center of your business' universe. Mainstream can provide your business with objective, professional and expert insight that can reduce your costs, improve your processes, and give your business the competitive differentiation needed in today's environment.
