Mainstream Helps Arkansas Department of Education Lead U.S. in Important Data Quality Initiative

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

LITTLE ROCK, December 12, 2011 — Mainstream Technologies, a Little Rock-based software solutions and IT service provider, is proud to have played a role in helping Arkansas rank first among the 50 states in taking action toward expanding data development with the goal of improving educational policy throughout the state, an achievement announced recently by the Data Quality Campaign.

Mainstream has worked with the Arkansas Department of Education to create a data library that will give state policymakers critical information as they work to expand college and career readiness for all students.

“Mainstream Technologies has been an instrumental partner in developing Arkansas’ new Statewide Information System, in part enabling the Department of Education to be ranked first among states by the Data Quality Campaign for its information systems,” says Jim Boardman, ADE’s assistant commissioner for research and technology. “We continue to utilize Mainstream’s broad IT services and expert development skills to build next-generation systems and empower stakeholders with vital tools for data-driven decision making.”

According to the report by the Data Quality Campaign, a national, collaborative effort to encourage and support state policy makers to improve the availability and use of high-quality education data to improve student achievement, “Arkansas leads the nation with nine of 10 state actions and providing cutting-edge, real-time data access and reporting.”

The campaign’s survey shows that no state has done more than Arkansas to undertake the campaign’s recommended actions to ensure effective data use. Arkansas is the only state to have taken nine of the 10 recommended actions.
