Data Recovery

Mainstream will assist the client in the event of a failure. Recovery options are outlined below:

  • Off-Site backup stored in secure data center
  • On-demand data restoration of files, folders, emails
  • File-level and granular Exchange recovery
  • Silent Data Corruption Protection, end to end checksums to “tag” data with strongly verifiable identifiers

Backup

1. File Folder or email level loss of data

Data can be recovered remotely via our Help Desk. This service is included in the monthly fee.

2. Complete Server Software or Hardware Failure

Should your server operating system software or hardware failure resulting in the requirement to re-install or rebuild the server, there are two options available;

  • The Backup Service has the ability to perform a “Bare Metal Restore”. This option involves restoring the server in its entirety from the last known good backup. This service will take several hours and is a billable event not covered by the monthly fees.
  • The local backup server is a virtual server and the server can be brought online and have you back and running in under an hour, once work has started. This service is a billable event not covered by the monthly fees.

3. Facilities Failure

In the event that your entire office is no longer useable and your servers are unavailable there are two options available.

  • The Backup Service can perform a “Bare Metal Restore”, this option involves restoring the server in its entirety from the last known good backup. Prior to implementing this solution, a new server will need to be identified. This service will take several hours and is a billable event not covered by monthly fees.
  • The offsite backup server is a virtual server and the data can be loaded onto servers and have you operational within 24 hours. This is a temporary fix and your local server will still need to be repaired or replaced and data restored. Application performance across the Wide Area Network (WAN) could be affected by several factors causing performance issues. Available bandwidth, software not designed to run across a WAN or needing Terminal Services etc. This service is a billable event not covered by the monthly fees.

Backup Schedule

The Backup Schedule can be customized to meet the client’s need. The amount of Storage Capacity needs to be taken into consideration for the Backup Schedule.

Continuous incremental backups are retained indefinitely both locally and remotely as capacity allows. Backups are pushed offsite daily.


  1. Offsite data backup – Mainstream will create and store local and offsite backup copies of the data contained on Client’s managed servers. A minimum of 14 daily versions will be retained.
  2. Ownership of the data – The backup data being stored with Mainstream remains the sole property of the Client. If the Client chooses to terminate services, Mainstream will assist Client in the orderly termination of services.
  3. Client acknowledges and understands Mainstream may utilize the equipment and services of third parties chosen by Mainstream in order to perform the responsibilities of Mainstream within this Work Order including without limitation storage of data, information and other intangible property of Client. Mainstream will secure any necessary licenses for or rights to use applications from third parties utilized by Mainstream for this Work Order.  Client agrees to indemnify and hold Mainstream harmless for any negligence or wrongful acts of any third party housing data or performing services for Client, without limitation of any rights Client may have against such third party.
  4. *Note: Storage Capacity equals the total storage required to store multiple versions of local and offsite backups, not the amount of a single backup.
